Problem: A good customer who used FW Warehouse as a distribution hub planned a marketing campaign for one of their products that involved constructing cardboard displays that would go into grocery stores. The customer needed hundreds of these cardboard displays assembled and stocked with their existing product. Each display needed to be assembled before delivery. The customer would need extra storage space as well as some extra hands to help get the project off the ground. The first group they contacted were the key personnel at the FW distribution center.
Solution: The FW team was briefed on the request. A brief time study was undertaken to determine how long it would take to build one of the displays. Taking into account their other commitments and priorities, the FW team came up with a quick solution to the request of the customer. FW dedicated a portion of its staff to the short term assembly of the displays once they were finished with their normal schedule. The FW staff was large enough that no extra help from outside the existing payroll was needed. A spot inside the distribution center was set aside where the displays would be assembled and stored until the time came for delivery. Considering FW was already serving as the distribution center for the customer, adding the displays to the outbound orders was a simple and seamless operation.
Benefit: In the end, FW was able to show that they are more than just a warehousing and trucking service. FW proved that they were capable of providing clients with quality solutions that are cost effective and time effective. Having the ability to perform fulfillment tasks that would normally be outsourced to another provider, has strengthened the partnership FW has with clients.
