FW Warehousing was recently notified by American Global Standards that this long established hazardous material storage provider had successfully completed ISO 9001:2008 recertification, according to Mike Cusumano, Safety and Compliance Officer for FW Warehousing.
“We received a clean audit report with no corrective action needed,” Cusumano said. “This is our ninth year of certification and this was our 3rd recertification.”
ISO 9001:2008 certification has been in place for more than a decade. It is used by businesses and their customers as a method of controlling quality. It is an international standard related to quality management systems and can be applied to any organization across all business sectors. Benefits and goals of the ISO 9001:2008 certification include: (1) increased efficiency and effectiveness throughout the organization resulting from continual improvements to systems, as well as the quality of its products or services, (2) sustained customer satisfaction through producing and delivering products/services and support functions the meet the customers’ needs and expectations and (3) engagement of senior management in the improvement of quality management systems and facilitates a customer-focus within the organization.
According to ISO.org, “ISO 9001:2009 specifies requirements for quality management system where an organization: 1. needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and 2. aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. All requirements of ISO 9001:2008 are generic and are intended to be applicable to all organizations, regardless of type, size and product provided.”
