In late July, Midwest warehousing provider FW Warehousing received notice that its APHIS certification has been renewed. FW Warehousing facilities were inspected by APHIS inspectors on July 23, 2013 and were found to be in compliance with all U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulations.
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is the agency within the USDA responsible for safeguarding animal health and welfare as well as plant health. The agency’s focus is protecting U.S. agriculture from any and all invasive pests and diseases while supporting the USDA’s overall mission to promote and protect food, agriculture and our country’s natural resources.
Having successfully completed another annual inspection, FW Warehousing is approved to continue receiving, storing and shipping animal byproducts consigned directly from foreign establishments. As a third-party logistics provider, FW is also authorized to ship such imported goods to any other APHIS approved U.S. facilities.
“As the USDA states on its web site: ‘APHIS exists to facilitate trade, monitor the movement of risk materials, protect against the introduction of pests and diseases, regulate the import/export of animals, animal products, plants and biologicals, as well as help U.S. exporters meet the entry requirements of other countries,'” said Mark Cusumano, President and CEO of FW Warehousing. “As a 3PL partner, we work with local, regional, national and international customers. We receive, store and ship a wide variety of goods from all over the world.”
“Being an APHIS certified warehouse means we meet or exceed the highest standards and stringent requirements of the USDA,” Cusumano continued. “While the annual certification process and on-premises government inspections are required for handling some of our customers’ products, it’s simply added peace of mind for our other customers to know that their 3PL partner meets the highest industry standards, not just the bare minimum requirements.”
